Antifouling, Propspeed & underwater care
A haul-out is an opportunity to look carefully at what is happening below the waterline. Our antifouling work in Manly, Brisbane starts with the existing coating and hull condition. We agree suitable preparation, minor fairing or substrate repairs, and the coating system before application.
We also prepare and apply Propspeed to suitable propellers, shafts and approved running-gear components. Visible checks of anodes, underwater fittings, rudders and keels help identify related work to discuss while access is available.

Shipwright, fibreglass & gelcoat repairs
Damage, leaks and wear deserve more than a quick cosmetic answer. We investigate hull and deck concerns, damaged fittings and deteriorated components, then explain what can be repaired and what needs further assessment.
Work can include fibreglass and composite repairs, gelcoat chips and colour matching, local fairing, bulkhead or panel repairs, and removal and reinstatement for technical access. We also investigate leaks around hatches and deck hardware, with bedding and sealing where appropriate. Structural, keel, rudder and osmosis repairs are scoped after investigation, with engineering or specialist input where required.

Timber, teak & traditional boatbuilding repairs
From a worn teak deck to joinery that needs careful restoration, we consider the condition of the timber and what can be retained. Classic and timber boats benefit from repairs that respect the existing construction, detail and character.
Our range includes timber hull and deck repairs, planking and scarf repairs, caulking, teak-deck repairs, hatches, doors, gratings and trim. Timber cleaning, oiling, varnish preparation and finishing are selected to suit the material and agreed finish.

Boat polishing, detailing & maintenance
A well-kept finish begins with knowing what the surface needs. We assess gelcoat or painted finishes before agreeing cleaning, cutting, polishing and protection. Stainless-steel polishing, glass detailing and selected interior care can be included in the worklist.
For worn coatings, we can discuss varnishing, brush-and-roller finishes and local paint rectification rather than treating every defect as a polishing job. Larger spray-finishing work needs an appropriately controlled facility and separate arrangements. Maintenance and presentation work can be planned around a sale, a recent purchase or your next season on the water.

Custom-built marine furniture & cabinetry
Good marine joinery makes the available space work harder without losing the character of the boat. We manufacture custom marine furniture and cabinetry through our Brisbane workshop in Hemmant, from individual replacement components to coordinated interior improvements.
Tell us what is missing or no longer work. Is it a more functional storage, a better-fitting locker, revised seating or berth joinery, or cabinetry for a galley alteration? We consider measurements, existing materials, access and installation before agreeing the design and manufacture. Veneer, solid-timber repairs and finish matching can help new work sit comfortably alongside what you want to keep.

Marine interiors, alterations & refit
A damaged cabinet, water-affected joinery or a change in how you use your boat may call for more than an isolated repair. We assess what to retain, repair or replace, from doors and panels to galley and accommodation alterations.
For larger yacht interior refits and fit-outs, our 1,000 m² Hemmant facility provides manufacture and project support. An initial conversation at Manly can lead to a coordinated scope covering removal, off-site manufacture, reinstallation and interfaces with other trades. Vessel access and project requirements determine the delivery location.

Trailer boats, dinghies & sailing preparation
Smaller boats deserve the same considered workmanship. We assess trailerboat and dinghy hulls, decks, hatches, seating, lockers and flooring for practical repairs. Dinghy composite work, local fittings and rudder or centreboard repairs are scoped to suit the craft and condition
For racing yachts, cruising boats and visiting crews, we can bring repairs, visible fitting checks and presentation work into one preparation worklist. Tell us your regatta or departure date early so we can confirm capacity and a realistic programme. Full rigging and systems work is coordinated with suitable specialists.

Our workshop is on-site at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, serving members, visitors and non-members. We welcome owners from Manly Harbour, Moreton Bay and beyond.
We can coordinate haul-out and hardstand arrangements or work with a booking you make directly. Lifting, launching and pressure washing are provided by the boatyard, subject to its bookings and vessel suitability.

Yes. We welcome owners from Brisbane, Manly Harbour and Moreton Bay, as well as the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Our workshops are in Manly and Hemmant, and not separate branches in each region. We confirm the vessel’s location, access, travel or delivery arrangements and scope before booking work.
No. Marxcraft serves members, visitors and non-members. Access, haul-out and work arrangements are confirmed with the relevant facility, so speak with us before bringing your vessel to the Manly workshop and we'll love to help.
Yes. Visiting interstate and international owners and crews can enquire about repairs, maintenance and event preparation in Brisbane. Send your worklist, vessel details and arrival and departure dates in advance. We will confirm availability and a practical scope; event timing does not guarantee immediate completion.
Maintenance & repairs
Marxcraft’s shipwright services cover hull and deck repairs, fibreglass and gelcoat work, timber and teak repairs, fittings, hatches and marine joinery. Antifouling, Propspeed, polishing and maintenance planning sit alongside those repairs. Mechanical, electrical and full rigging work can be coordinated in-house or with specialist providers.
There is no single interval suitable for every boat in Moreton Bay. The coating system, hull condition, time afloat, vessel use and local fouling conditions all matter. Share the last haulout date and coating details so we can discuss inspection and renewal. We assess suitability before recommending another application.
Antifouling and Propspeed address different surfaces and coating requirements. Hull antifouling is selected for the boat’s underwater hull; Propspeed is a foul-release coating for suitable propellers and other approved running-gear components. We assess the existing coating and substrate before agreeing preparation and application. Neither replaces mechanical inspection or repairs.
Yes. We assess fibreglass and composite damage, gelcoat chips and cracking, and leaks around hatches, deck fittings and other accessible areas. The repair depends on the cause and extent of the problem, not only its appearance. Suspected structural damage or osmotic blistering may need further investigation and specialist input before a repair method is agreed.
Yes. Our in-house specialist team are highly experience in timber work, including teak-deck repairs, planking, caulking, scarf repairs, hatches, doors, gratings and trim. We assess the timber and underlying condition before recommending restoration or replacement. Varnishing and other finishing work can be included where suitable for the material and working location.
Polishing may be appropriate for a weathered but serviceable finish; it is not a substitute for repairing damaged gelcoat or failed paint. We inspect the surface before agreeing cleaning, cutting, polishing or protective finishing. Where repair or recoating is the better option, we discuss that scope separately.
Yes. We can assess smaller-craft hulls and decks, fibreglass and gelcoat damage, hatches, lockers, seating and flooring. Dinghy fittings, rudders and centreboards can also be assessed for repair. Bring photographs and vessel details so we can confirm suitability, access and any specialist work needed.
Furniture & interiors
Yes. Marxcraft manufactures custom-built marine furniture and cabinetry through our Hemmant workshop in Brisbane. Projects can include storage and lockers, berth and seating joinery, galley cabinetry and replacement interior components. We agree measurements, materials, finish and installation arrangements for the boat rather than treating the piece as ordinary freestanding furniture.
We can assess existing timber, veneer and finishes and discuss a suitable match for repairs or new joinery. Age, wear, grain and previous finishing affect the result, so an exact match should not be assumed. Photographs help with the first conversation; samples and an inspection may be needed before the finish is agreed.
Yes. We can start with a cabinet, panel or water-damaged joinery repair and discuss wider alterations if needed. Larger marine interior fit-outs and refits draw on our 1,000 m² Hemmant facility for manufacture and project support. The vessel, installation access and scope determine where each stage happens. Planning & costs
You can book directly with the boatyard, or Marxcraft can help coordinate the booking and repair worklist. At Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, the boatyard operates lifting, launching and pressure washing. (Note: Facility suitability, availability and relaunch timing must be confirmed as they are subject to availability.)
Cost depends on the vessel, condition, access, preparation, materials and scope. Work may be hourly, estimated after inspection or agreed as a defined package. Send your vessel type and length, location, photographs, worklist and preferred timing. We discuss the charging basis and any further investigation before proceeding; a photograph alone may not establish the full repair scope.
A basic initial inspection is free. Detailed reports, insurance-related assessment and substantial investigation are paid scopes, with any required specialist involvement agreed first. Those fees are credited if the associated work proceeds, subject to the agreed scope and terms. A basic inspection is not an independent survey or seaworthiness certification.
Yes. Tell us at the outset so written scopes, condition photographs, progress updates and variation approval arrangements can be included in your communication plan. For syndicates, captains and managed vessels, nominate the person authorised to approve work and costs.
Yes. We can help plan a combined worklist and coordinate mechanical, electrical, rigging and other specialist providers where needed. The scope, responsibilities and working arrangements are agreed for your project. We also assess whether a larger or intensive job should be delivered through our larger Hemmant facility rather than Manly.
